Kempton Park Autojumble

Posted by CaptainSensible on January 28, 2012

Today we had a lovely day out at Kempton Park Racecourse where they have a regular autojumble for bike-related stuff.

Notably, we achieved 2 milestones from a Yamaha Triples point of view:

  1. We got 4 triple enthusiasts at the same place and time.
  2. Someone was selling the remains of an aborted XS850 turbo project.

First of all, here are some of the stalwarts of the UK Triples forum - from left to right, Julian, Ralph (Schlumpf) and XS750 Paul. Plus me, taking the picture.

Ralph distinguished himself by being the only person to actually ride there. Obviously he's a hardy kind of guy because it was bloody freezing.

Above, Ralph's bike parked outside the main gate. A tidy XS750 Special which sounds really nice and is obviously mechanically sound.

Unlike this...

Yours for £150 apparently. Obviously someone decided a standard XS850 wasn't fast or dangerous enough and decided to fix those problems by a) adding a turbo and b) changing the front end for something that would struggle to stop a bicycle.

Mad.
